I don't buy it...that is the GOP spin that has been used to try to open up more land to drill. If that were the case there would have been a push to do this 3 years ago after Katrina...and while the GOP still had control of Congress and a President who says he's all for it.

LOL Oil prices shot up after Katrina and went up more when more hurracains were predicted the year after.

I an NOT a GOP man or a Dem I think they both are self serving I do not think the GOP did anything about the oil prices 2 or 3 years ago becouse it did not see an advantage in doing so......The Dems do not wnt to do anything about it before the election becouse it is to there benifit.

IMHO if we wait till the election nothing will happen becouse it will not benifit anyone in office to make it happen

I told you it is election time that time of year polaticions throw us voters a bone (so long as it helps them or hurts the other side) that is why the GOP is doing it now the Dems are tring to stop it for the very same reason.....BOTH SIDES SUCK I am just hopeing that somethin benifical will come out of it in the mean time

That's my point...it's just being politicized for party gain...really, it would have no impact whatsoever...so why allow drilling off the coast?

But it would have an impact however My point is that neather party really cares about that impact unless it will help them politicly High Oil prices help the Dems so they have no plans to do ANYTHING about them till after the election. Reps do not really care eather but since they can make the Dems look bad they will push the offshore drilling knowing that Dems can't support it due to not wanting to have Nader come in a split there vote again. Now after the election i bet that there will be a show of bi-partinson ship that will open it up. (Makes me SICK!)

The GOP is just looking for votes...cuz their party approval rating is in the crapper.....that is all the offshore drilling debate is about.

Neathers side approval raiting is worth a crap & IMHO if BOTH sides would stop worring so damn much about approval raiting the country would be a lot better off.

Look at it this way if each party would work 1/2 as hard to fix things rather than putting all the effort into making a problem the sole responsability of the other side we would be better off.

The GOP currently want Oil prices lower not becouse they really care but becouse they have found an issue with off shore drilling that they can beat the dems over the head with.

The Dems want it higher becouse they can blame it on Bush and the "Evil Oil Men".

After the election i think both side MAY end up doing something about it however it is just as likly that after each side gets what they want they will forget about us voters for 3 and a half years

Drilling for oil certainly has helped Russia.
It hasn't been that long ago the USSR imploded and broke into pieces because because of a failed economy. Look at them now. They have a BOOMING, very rich economy simply because of their oil.

But then again they may have fust forced everybody to inflate their tires. Who knows??????
